The Rare Occasions Information
The Rare Occasions is an American indie rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Luke Imbusch, Jeremy Cohen, and Brian McLauglin. McLaughlin and Imbusch met Stone and Cohen at their respective universities and decided to join them in the band they had formed during high school in Providence, Rhode Island.
After the band went through an "identity crisis," McLaughlin came up with the name "The Rare Occasions" to replace "The Custodians," their prior name. The band's second album was recorded in Los Angeles, California after they moved there from Boston.
The Demo Recordings EP came out on October 12, 2012, followed by Applefork in 2013. In the studio, they recorded two albums, Into the Shallows (2018) and Big Whoop (2021). People have said that The Rare Occasions sound somewhere between garage rock and indie rock or indie pop. Futureproof, their debut extended play, had several experimental elements, including string arrangements, woodwind instruments (a suggestion from Imbusch), and vocal harmonies.
