The Quireboys Information
The Quireboys is an English rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Pip Mailing, Nick Mailing, Keith Weir, Paul Guerin, and Guy Griffin. While performing at the Marquee Club, the Queerboys gradually gained a following. Paul Hornby, the band's drummer, shortly left to join Dogs D'Amour, a band that would eventually include Quireboys (known as Cozy) members. The Queerboys performed at the Clarendon Hotel in Hammersmith on 28 March 1986 alongside Bernie Torme and the Moho Pack at what was then known as Klub Foot.
They started as Cherry Bombz's opening act in May of that year. The band's contentious name began to hold them back in 1987, leading to the cancellation of several shows on a tour with Andy McCoy's band. Reading Festival had also invited them to perform, under the condition that they change their name. Because of this, they rebranded themselves as the Quireboys and have done so ever since.
The Quireboys signed with EMI and brought out their first album, "A Bit of What You Fancy," with Sharon Osbourne as manager. When Ginger left the Quireboys in 1990 to establish the Wildhearts, they brought in Guy Griffin, guitarist for the Cradle Snatchers and Feline Groove. Cozy was replaced on the first album by Bob Dylan sideman Ian Wallace.
