Los Angeles' The Pretty Flowers is a four-piece indie rock band featuring vocalist/guitarist Noah Green, guitarist/vocalist Jake Gideon, bassist/vocalist Sam Tiger, and drummer Sean Johnson (drums). Critics have praised their music for being catchy, emotional, and intellectual. The Replacements, Guided By Voices, The Teardrop Explodes, Echo & the Bunnymen, Superchunk, Creeper Lagoon, and The Lemonheads are just a handful of the many decades' worth of loud guitar indie and college music that have influenced the band.
"These Los Angeles hard power-poppers...play '90s style indie-rock that harkens back to later The Replacements, early Weezer, a little Sloan, and quite a bit of Wilco," reads the review of The Pretty Flowers' debut album, Why Trains Crash, in The Big Takeover. The album was released on Portland's Dirt Cult Records. They've got what it takes to create outstanding music. Punk zine Razorcake described it as "lyrical, like a toned-down The Weakerthans...wistful, but not weak and catchy, but not adorable," while the blog I Buy Way Too Many Records dubbed it "a shoo-in for (2018) album of the year."
The band has been active since the release of Why Trains Crash, doing numerous performances in and around their city and a west coast tour. They have had multiple singles and an album of cover songs, Golden Beat Sessions, used on two seasons of the Showtime series Shameless.
