The Paperboys Information
theyThe Paperboys are a Canadian folk music band that was formed in 1991 in Vancouver. The current lineup of the band consists of Tom Landa, Brad Gillard, Kalissa Landa, Sam Esecson, Kareem Kandi, Nick LaRiviere, Miguelito Valdes, and Greg Lyons. The Paperboys was formed initially by Christopher Jonat and Tom Landa, on acoustic vocals and guitars, respectively. This early version of the band was prevalent among college crowds in Vancouver. Their music has been known as a versatile one as they have a wide range of musical influences.
The Paperboys released its first studio album entitled “Late As Usual,” which was released on their record label called Stompy Discs in 1995. To market their work themselves, the group created Stomp Productions. The first three studio albums by The Paperboys received Juno Award nominations. Molinos (1997) was the third studio album that won in the category of Roots and Traditional Album of the Year award. The same year the band won the West Coast Music Award. In 2000, their album “Postcards” won the West Coast Music Award.
The Paperboys debut release was a cassette album called “January” in 1993 being their first commercially available recording. The album sold many copies at local shows all around Vancouver. The band has performed live shows as well, such as they appeared in the Genie Award-nominated film Marine Life. Their other notable studio albums include Tenure (2002), Dilapidated Beauty (2003), The Road to Ellenside (2006), Live at Stockfish Studio LP (2008), Live at Stockfish Studio CD (2008), Callithump (2009), Live – Across The Water, Across The Land (2012), At Peace With One’s Ghost (2014), and Score (2016).
