The Mountain Goats Information
The Mountain Goats are an American band founded by singer-songwriter John Darnielle in Claremont, California. Right now, the band is called Durham, North Carolina, home. Darnielle was the only Mountain Goat member for many years despite the plural name. The Mountain Goats recorded low-fidelity home recordings on a tape deck boombox and released them on cassette or vinyl 7-inch in the 1990s.
With 'Tallahassee' signifying the move to full studio production. With the addition of Franklin Bruno on the guitar and Peter Hughes on the bass, the praised 'All Hail West Texas' became his final raw, solo record. More musicians signed with 4AD for "We Shall All Be Healed," and Darnielle's compositions became more autobiographical and completely developed.
Inspired by bands like Joy Division, The Cure, and Siouxsie and the Banshees, they tackled another hurdle in 2017 with the "Goths" album. The band revealed in July 2023 that its 22nd album, Jenny from Thebes, a "rock opera about a woman named Jenny," will be out on October 27, 2023. The band has used the character "Jenny" in several of their songs, most famously three from All Hail West Texas.
