The Fenians Information
The Fenians is an American Celtic rock band. The current lineup consists of Brendan Harkins (uilleann pipes, vocals, and bass), Tardu Yegin (accordion, flute, saxophone, and whistles), Rob Williams (vocals and acoustic guitar), Bryon Holley (vocals and drums), and Terry Casey (lead vocals, electric guitar, and mandolin). The Fenians were founded in 1990 in Orange County, California, by mandolin player-singer Terry Casey, the son of Irish immigrants, as an outlet for his appreciation of Irish folk music.
The Fenians, with Patrick "Murph" Carey on acoustic guitar and Gordon McGrath on bass, performed at local Irish bars, mixing Irish traditional tunes with the rock and roll-punk energy Terry absorbed in his teenage years. After replacing founding drummer Matt Jones, Andy Mendoza recorded the band's first two albums, 1993's Live at the Harp and 1994's Distant City Street. Chris "the Animal" Pierce, a drummer, succeeded him not long after he quit to form Ozomatli. Similarly, the Fenians' sound evolved after the addition of Tardu Yegin, who played whistle and saxophone. After Casey and Pierce's departure, the band underwent several lineup changes.
