The Buckinghams Information
The Buckinghams is an American sunshine pop band from Chicago. The current lineup of the group consists of Rocky Penn (drums), Dave Zane (guitar), Bruce Soboroff (keyboards), Nick Fortuna (bass and vocals), and Carl Giammarese (guitar and vocals). The band was formed in 1966. It became one of the top-selling acts in 1967 when they charted their only five top 40 hits in the United States. In 1970, The Buckinghams was dissolved but re-formed in 1980.
In 1967, The Buckinghams released its debut album entitled King of a Drag. The album was released on the USA Records, reaching number 109 in the United States. The band featured an expanded group in 1983. The Buckinghams celebrated its 30th anniversary in 1996 with a concert at The Vic Theatre in Chicago. The band was also a part of the Solid Gold 60s Tour in 2001, the Grass Roots, Gary Puckett, the Turtles, and Tommy James.
Other albums released by The Buckinghams include Time and Charges (1967), Portraits (1967), In One Ear and Gone Tomorrow (1968), A Matter of Time (1985), Terra Firma (1998), Live and Well (2006), Reaching Back (2007), Standing Room Only (2008), The Joy of Christmas (2008), and Up Close: CD and digital downloads (2010). They have also released many compilation albums such as Greatest Hits (1969), Made in Chicago (1975), Mercy, Mercy, Mercy: A Collection (1991), and Up Close: The Buckinghams in Concert DVD/CD (2010).
