The Beat Information
The Beat is an English band That started in Birmingham, England, in 1978. Their songs include punk rock, ska, Latin, pop, soul, and reggae. During great unemployment and social unrest in the UK, the Beat emerged in Birmingham, England, in 1978. With his toasting technique, one of the band's vocalists, Roger, gave the sound a Jamaican vocal taste. Released in May 1980, I Just Can't Stop It's band's first studio album peaked at No. 3 on the UK albums chart.
Mini Murphy collaborated with indie rock band the Ordinary Boys in March 2021 to create a memorial album honoring his father, Ranking Roger, who passed away in December 2020. Released as a digital, vinyl, and CD single by United Sound Records/Proper, the resultant double-A side single included "Legacy" on one side and "Jump and Skank" on the other.
Between 1985 and 1998, Pete Townshend played the song "Save It for Later" many times. The Who also played the song two times on their 1989 Reunion Tour. Pearl Jam also started performing "Save It for Later" in 1996, combining it—a practice sometimes referred to as "tagging"—into the conclusion of "Better Man," and it stayed on the set list for their 2023 tour. Lead singer Eddie Vedder debuted a whole, solo rendition of the song in June 2024.
