Tenelle Information
Tenelle Christine Luafalemana (July 21, 1988) is an American Samoan singer and songwriter born in Carson, California. She began working with vocal coach Tim Carter, who is recognized for his work with Beyoncé and Willow Smith, at 12. Following her 2006 graduation from Gardena High, Tenelle immediately joined her three uncles to form a band called Chord Brown.
The West Coast of the United States and Oceania were where Tenelle's solo career first took off. The 2013 release of Meghan Trainor's global smash "Flava" propelled her to the forefront of the music industry and earned her a Grammy nomination—the single shot to the top of the iTunes list almost immediately. The song "Get Some" by Tenelle, released in 2014, was the most requested song on KCCN-FM, a contemporary hits station in Honolulu.
In 2017, she released her debut album, For the Lovers, which quickly rose to the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Tenelle has shared the stage and worked together with other Pacific Islander musicians like George 'Fiji' Veikoso, Drew Deezy, Adeaze, Anuhea, and Kimie. She has performed in American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, New Zealand, Japan, and Australia.
