Talisk Information
Talisk is a Scottish folk band. The current lineup consists of Graeme Armstrong (guitar), Benedict Morris (fiddle), and Mohsen Amini (concertina). Mohsen Amini, Hayley Keenan, and Craig Irving founded Talisk in 2014. Graeme Armstrong took over on the guitar after Irving left to join Mànran. The band was awarded the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award in 2015. Amini was named BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician for 2016. The band’s success grew even more in 2017 when they were named “Folk Band of the Year” at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.
Talisk is a band that focuses solely on instrumental music. “In the lack of songs to vary the tone and tempo, they utilize passages of introspection and trance-like patterns or present a peaceful melodic opening,” wrote Rob Adams of the Herald Scotland in a review in 2015.
Talisk’s compilations include BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2015 (2015), The Mark Radcliffe Folk Sessions (2015), BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2017 (2017), Celtic Colours Live, Vol.5 (2017), and The Rough Guide to Scottish Folk (2018).
