Sumo Cyco is a Canadian rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Joey Muha, Oscar Anesetti, Matt "MD13" Drake, and Skye "Sever" Sweetnam. Sumo Cyco debuted in March of 2011 and played their first concert in April of that year, opening for Hollywood Undead in front of a thousand people. Coal Chamber, Filter, Life of Agony, Finger Eleven, The Salads, and Raggadeath with Michie Mee are just a few of the band's Sumo Cyco has performed alongside.
The likes of Jag Tanna (I Mother Earth), Julius "Juice" Butty (Alexisonfire), and Matt DeMatteo (Big Wreck) have all mixed their tracks. Ray William Johnson's channel has over five million subscribers, and one tune, "Interceptor," has gotten a lot of attention because of it. Sumo Cyco has an extensive internet following and produces high-quality music videos and short films for promotional purposes under their direction. The band draws on a wide range of musical styles, including System of a Down, Rob Zombie, and No Doubt.
Their music has an interesting fusion of metal guitars, blast sounds, and dancehall grooves. At the 2012 Toronto Independent Music Awards, the band took home the trophy for Best Female-Fronted Band. They also participated in and triumphed at Indie Week Ireland in Limerick, Ireland, in April 2014. At this year's Download Festival in England, you can catch a performance by Sumo Cyco. The band released seven songs during this time, all of which were introduced by music videos that the band had directed and produced themselves.
