Stewart Copeland Information
Stewart Armstrong Copeland (July 16, 1952) is an American composer and musician from Alexandria, Virginia. His family moved to Cairo, Egypt, a few months after his birth. Again in 1957, his family moved to Beirut, Lebanon, where Copeland attended the American Community School. At 12, he began taking drum lessons and was playing the drums for school dances within a year. After moving to England, Copeland attended Millfield boarding school in Somerset from 1967 to 1969. He later went to college in California and attended the University of California, Berkeley, and United States International University.
Copeland used to work as a road manager for the progressive rock band Curved Air's 1974 reunion tour. He also worked as a drummer for the band during 1975 and 1976. He founded the band Police in early 1977. Some of the early discographies under the group are "Fall Out" (Illegal Records, 1977), "Nothing Achieving," "On Any Other Day," "Does Everyone Stare," "Contact," "Bombs Away," and "Darkness." Copeland has also recorded under the pseudonym Klark Kent.
Copeland established a career composing many soundtracks for movies See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Highlander II: The Quickening, The Leopard Son, Airborne, Talk Radio, Wall Street, Riff Raff, I am David, Riding the Bus with My Sister, Raining Stones, West Beirut, and Good Burger. He also created soundtracks for television shows such as the pilot for Babylon 5 (1993), Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show, The Equalizer, Dead Like Me, and Star Wars: Droids and the list goes on.
Some of his notable studio albums are Klark Kent: Music Madness from the Kinetic Kid, Mr. Doubles, The Grand Pecking Order, La Notte della Taranta, and The Stewart Copeland Anthology.
