Spanish Harlem Orchestra Information
Spanish Harlem Orchestra is a Latin dance music orchestra founded by Aaron Levinson and Oscar Hernandez, based in the US. The orchestra is a three-time Grammy winner known to set the gold standard for excellence in authentic hardcore salsa and New York style. Whether an outdoor jazz festival or in a concert hall, SHO always comes to the audience full force, the whole way through.
The energy brought to the stage by SHO is full of rich sound and musical precision that leaves the audiences mesmerized until the last note is played. The orchestra constitutes thirteen world-class musicians and vocalists, all with unwavering respect for the music’s storied history. They all come together to create an unparalleled musical experience.
In 2004, the first Grammy win came to SHO with their album, Across 110th Street. The album featured Ruben Blades as a guest artist. Some of the other notable albums by the orchestra are United We Swing (2007), Viva La Tradicion (2010), La Media Vuelta (2018 single), and Anniversary, 2018. The Latin Jazz Project, 2020, included Ritmo De Mi Gente, Bobo, Invitation, Acid Rain, Las Palmas, Silent Prayers, 'Round Midnight, Fort Apache, Latin Perspective, and a few more. Spanish Harlem Orchestra earned 2005 Grammy Award for Best Salsa/Merengue Album, 2002 Grammy nominee for "Best Salsa Album," 2003 Latin Billboard Award for "Salsa Album of the Year-Best New Group," 2010 Grammy Award for "Best Tropical Latin Album," and 2019 Grammy Award for Best Tropical Latin Album for Anniversary.
