The ladies in the family clean Grandma's attic after the matriarch dies and discover love and old memories stashed away. They discover famous songs tracing the history of Black women from the 1930s through the girl groups of the 1960s and to the empowerment of the 1990s. This includes 40 hit songs by legendary black performers such as Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Alicia Keys, and The Supremes.
Broadway.com leaped at the opportunity to speak with the outstanding cast of the off-Broadway musical Sistas because it is a constant celebration. The play follows five ladies as they prepare to bury their family's matriarch. Through popular songs from Beyonce to Billie Holiday, the women talk about the history of African-American women and their own families.
