Shannon and the Clams is an indie garage punk band. The current lineup of the group consists of Will Sprott (vocals and keyboards), Nate Mahan (drums), Cody Blanchard (vocals and guitar), and Shannon Shaw (vocals and bass). The band is based in Oakland, California. They are known for a vintage sound that incorporates different elements of surf, garage psych, classic R&B, and doo-wop. The band started when Blanchard and Shaw met each other at the California College of the Arts.
Shannon and the Clams released its debut album entitled I Wanna Go Home, released in 2009. The group released its sophomore album, Sleep Talk, after its debut album in 2011. In May 2013, Shannon and the Clams released its third album entitled, Dreams in the Rat House. Shannon and the Clams released its fourth studio album, Gone by the Dawn, in 2015. The band soon signed a record deal with Eye Eye Sound of Dan Auerbach and released their first release on the label in 2018 entitled, Onion.
In 2021, Shannon and the Clams released its sixth studio album entitled Year of the Spider. Their notable singles are “Gremlins Crawl / White Rabbit,” “Ozma / Angel Baby,” and “Ozma / Mupped Babies.”
