Shamir Information
Shamir Bailey (November 7, 1994) is an American singer and songwriter born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shamir and his mother often hosted his aunt, who worked in the music industry. His aunt had bass players and producers to aid her with her music. Hip-hop, R&B, Outkast, Groove Theory, and artists like Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Janis Joplin were among the many genres of music he was exposed to by his parents and aunt.
He and a pal started a punk band when he was 16, but the band broke up after the first show when his friend froze. He made his debut EP while still in high school. He submitted a demo tape to the Godmode label in New York shortly after completing high school. The label's founder, Nick Sylvester, signed him to the label. Godmode released Shamir's first EP, Northtown, in June of 2014; the EP is named after the Northtown neighborhood where Shamir grew up.
Shamir was featured in the 2018 "Sex Issue" of Wussy Magazine. Shamir quietly dropped his fourth studio album, Resolution, on March 9, 2018. Shamir's indie rock style, established on previous albums like Hope and Revelations, is continued on Resolution. Shamir's debut studio album, titled Shamir, was released in 2020. Many tracks, including the hit single "On My Own," were recorded at Kyle Pulley's Headroom Studios in Philadelphia.
