Seattle Rock Orchestra Information
The Seattle Rock Orchestra is a rock orchestra from the United States. SRO's tribute shows are unlike any other, with strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and a rotating cast of intriguing guest vocalists. Each SRO show combines a diverse range of infectious energy and a classy night out at the symphony with searing rock solos with intimate orchestral moments. They also play fan-favorite sing-alongs with 'deep cuts,' combining to create a fun yet profoundly moving night out that honors the featured artist's lasting legacy.
Scott Teske, a bassist, and composer, created SRO in 2008. Since then, SRO has worked with artists such as Rosie Thomas, Allen Stone, Jason Webley, The Long Winters, Vendetta Red, Nada Surf, Elvis Costello, Macklemore, DeVotchKa, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Jeremy Enigk, Damian Jurado, D.R.A.M, Jesse Sykes, and members of Big Star, The Posies, R.E.M., Harvey Danger, and Pearl Jam.
The Seattle Rock Orchestra Summer Intensive is a week-long summer day camp for middle and high school musicians, SRO began its transformation into a full-fledged arts organization in 2012. It now hosts two sessions each summer at Seattle's Moore Theatre and Kirkland Performance Center. Seattle Rock Orchestra Quintet, the orchestra's premiere chamber ensemble, Seattle Rock Orchestra Social Club, a volunteer amateur community orchestra, Seattle Rock Orchestra Street Band, a New Orleans-style brass band, and a mobile party unit are among the SRO's other initiatives.
