Sarah Harmer Information
Sarah Harmer (November 12, 1970) is a Canadian singer, environmental activist, and songwriter. She was born and raised in Burlington, Ontario. She gained her first success as a musician while she was in her teenage. Her older sister started taking her to Tragically Hip concerts at the time. Harmer was 17 when she joined a band in Toronto called, The Saddletramps. She performed with the band for almost three years. She played in the band while she was also studying at Queen’s University.
Harmer soon formed her band, including several Kingston, Ontario-based musicians. The band was called Weeping Tile. In 1994, the band released its first independent cassette. After releasing that cassette, the band signed a major label record deal and re-released the cassette in 1995 with the title, Eepee. Her band regularly performed on the rock club circuit. Harmer also recorded a set of pop standards as a Christmas gift for her father in 1998.
In 2000, Harmer released another album entitled, You Were Here. She went on touring the United States and Canada in 2001 to support her album. Her song entitled “Silver Road” was featured as the lead track of the soundtrack in the film Men With Brooms in 2002.
Other albums released by Harmer include All of Our Names (March 23, 2004), I’m a Mountain (November 15, 2005), Oh Little Fire (June 22, 2010), and Are You Gone (February 21, 2020). Notable singles include “New Low,” “Captive,” “Just Get Here,” “I Am Aglow,” “Weakened State,” and “Don’t Get You Back Up.”
