Ronnie Earl Information
Ronnie Earl (March 10, 1953) is an American music instructor and blues guitarist. His original name was Ronald Horvath and was born in Queens, New York. Earl used to collect sound records, rock, and jazz, while he was growing up. He went to C.W. Post College, where he studied American History. Later on, he moved to Boston to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. Earl attended Boston University and graduated in 1975. His first job as a musician was as a rhythm guitarist at The Speakeasy, a blues club in Cambridge.
After spending some time working in The Speakeasy, Earl traveled to New Orleans and Austin, Texas. He spent time with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmie Vaughan, and Kim Wilson. He also joined the band Roomful of Blues as a lead guitarist in 1979. In 1986, Earl began performing solo in addition to playing with the band. He released his debut solo album on the record label Black Top Records. After some time, he left Roomful of Blues and began collaborating with contemporaries such as Jimmy Witherspoon, Jimmy Rogers, Earl King, Jerry Portnoy, and Ron Levy.
Earl formed his band called “The Broadcasters” in 1988. With this band, he released a mega list of notable albums, including Smoking (1983), They Call Me Mr. Earl (1984), Soul Searching (1988), Peace of Mind (1990), I Like It When It Rains (1990), Surrounded by Love (1991), Still River (1993), Language of the Soul (1994), Eye to Eye (1996), Grateful Heart: Blues and Ballads (1996), The Colour of Love (1997), and Healing Time (2000).
