Ron Vincent Information
Ron Vincent, a native of Warwick, Rhode Island, traveled to Boston, Massachusetts, in 1969 to enroll in the esteemed Berklee College of Music. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education there in 1973. After spending time in Kansas City (between 1979 and 1982) and touring the United States with various jazz groups, Vincent eventually moved to New York City in 1982.
Vincent is already an established figure in the New York City jazz scene. Vincent has worked extensively as a sideman, and his discography includes recordings for labels including GRP, Concord, and Palmetto. At Palmetto, he has served in both producing and co-producing capacities on multiple albums.
From 1989 until Mr. Mulligan died in 1996, Vincent played in the Gerry Mulligan Quartet and Mr. Mulligan's Re-Birth of the Cool Tentet. He has collaborated with many notable musicians, including Mr. Mulligan, Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Randy Brecker, Bob Brookmeyer, Bill Charlap, John Lewis, and Slide Hampton, with whom he recorded four CDs.
Artists including Art Farmer, Karrin Allyson, Jimmy Heath, Rob McConnell, Rufus Reid, and Dr. Billy Taylor have shared the stage with Vincent. His quintet has toured the United States and Europe, and his trio performs regularly in the New York City region.
