Robert Finley Information
Robert Finley (February 13, 1954) is an American soul and blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was born in Bernice, Louisiana. He picked up the guitar he'd found in a junk shop and started learning to play when he was 11. Finley returned to Louisiana and led the gospel group Brother Finley and the Gospel Sisters in addition to working as a part-time carpenter. It was determined that he was legally blind. Thus he had to give up his carpentry career.
Age Don't Mean a Thing, Finley's first studio album, was released on Big Legal Mess Records on September 30, 2016. Although Finley was primarily a blues musician, his record producer Bruce Watson paid special attention to the more soulful pieces he wrote. Finley went to Memphis to record with the Bo-Keys, and Watson and Jimbo Mathus are credited as producers. On Age Don't Mean a Thing, he wrote all but two songs, with inspirations ranging from Booker T. and the MGs to James Brown and B.B. King.
Finley's participation in the 2019 season of America's Got Talent was publicized on social media. Finley's original song "Get It While You Can" was included on an AGT sneak peek. Although he made it to the live shows, he was knocked out in the quarterfinals. Sharecropper's Son, a new album from Finley, was confirmed for release on May 21, 2021, via Easy Eye Sound.
