Robert Cray Band Information
Robert William Cray (August 1, 1953) is an American blues guitarist and singer from Columbus, Georgia. He plays blues-rock and rock music. He started his music when he was a student at Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia. One-Way Street was the first band Cray joined, although his family eventually relocated to Tacoma, Washington.
Cray shares his heroes to be Freddie King, Albert Collins, and Muddy Waters, whom he had seen at 20. After deciding to start a band, Cray began playing college towns on the West Coast. He founded the Robert Cray Band while living in Eugene, Oregon, and collaborated with Curtis Salgado in the Cray-Hawks. He was the uncredited bassist in the house party band Otis Day and the Knights in the 1978 film named National Lampoon's Animal House.
Who's Been Talkin' was the first album by Cray that came out in 1980. Some of the other notable albums released by Cray are Bad Influence, False Accusations, Too Many Cooks, Strong Persuader, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Midnight Stroll, I Was Warned, Shame + A Sin, Some Rainy Morning, Tand ake Your Shoes Off. Some of his collaborative albums are Showdown! (with Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland), 3× Gold (with INXS and Wet Wet Wet), and In Concert (with Albert Collins). Cray has also released several hit singles so far, including "Right Next Door (Because of Me)" and "Acting This Way."
