Rick Braun Information
Rick Braun (July 6, 1955) is a vocalist, trumpeter, and record producer from Allentown, Pennsylvania, who plays jazz fusion, smooth jazz, and pop. Braun was born to a self-taught pianist and banjoist mother. He played drums in high school and later took on trumpet like his brother. Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, and Herb Alpert are some of Braun's influences. Braun attended the Eastman School of Music in the 1970s and became a member of a jazz-fusion band, Auracle, while a student. He co-produced the second album for the band, working with producer Teo Macero.
Braun entered the pop music world in the 1980s. As a singer, he released an album in Japan, and later on, Braun worked as a songwriter for Lorimar (Warner Chappell). "Here with Me" was a song written by Braun with REO Speedwagon that became a top twenty hit. Intimate Secrets (Mesa, 1992) was the debut solo album by Braun, followed by Night Walk and Christmas Present. He released another album entitled Beat Street in 1995, which brought major popularity to him.
Some of Braun's top chartings hits are R n R, All It Takes, Kisses in the Rain, and Can You Feel It. He has performed live with well-known musicians such as Dave Koz, Jackiem Joyner, Candy Dulfer, and Peter White. Braun was also honored with two Gavin Report's Artist of the Year.
