This artist and singer-songwriter have been wowing fans since the 1970s when he first gained attention as the guitarist for Television and a co-founder of the band. The Beatles' appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show sparked his early interest in music. Lloyd started on drums but switched to guitar in his late teens. He dropped out of high school before graduating to pursue a music career in the Boston region.
Television was founded in 1973 after Tom Miller and manager Terry Ork met, and they were regulars at CBGB, where other pioneering bands like the Ramones and Blondie also played. Lloyd contributed to the group's critically acclaimed recordings, Marquee Moon (1977) and Adventure (1978).
A short time after the release of their 1978 album, the band disbanded, and Lloyd started focusing on a solo career. The album's title track became a hit on New York radio shortly after its release 1979 on Elektra Records, where he also began his project. Lloyd has continued his solo career despite frequent Television meetings, with albums such as 1985's Field of Fire and 2018's The Countdown.
He has performed at major music events worldwide, including the Hopscotch Music Fest in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he shared the bill with dozens of other artists like Margo Price, Big Thief, and Run the Jewels. He's still performing all over the globe, headlining clubs and sharing stages with artists like Wayne Kramer, Cindy Wilson, and A Flock of Seagulls.
