Reel Big Fish Information
Reel Big Fish is an American ska punk band that belongs to Orange County, California. The band was formed in 1991. All the founding members of the band were in high school at that time. They began their group as a cover band in which they used to record cover songs. Later on, the group released its demo album in 1992 entitled “In The Good Old Days.” The current line-up of the band consists of Aaron Barrett, Derek Gibbs, Edward Larsen, Matt Appleton, and John Christianson.
Reel Big Fish self-released their album by the name, Everything Sucks. The album gained some success via word of mouth. After this successful release, the band got the recording deal signed with Mojo Records. In August 1996, Reel Big Fish released its new album under the Mojo Records entitled “Turn the Radio Off.” Right after, the band started touring all across the United States. The album’s single “Sell Out” became not only successful, but it also led the album to reach at number 57 on the Billboard Charts. For the next 32 weeks, the album stayed on the same charts.
Reel Big Fish released its third album, “Why Do They Rock So Hard?” which did not meet the band’s expectations at all; even it could not match the previous sales. The band then appeared in the movie “BASEketball” in 1998. Some other notable albums released by the Reel Big Fish are Cheer Up! (2002), We’re Not Happy ‘til You’re Not Happy (2005), Monkeys for Nothin’ and the Chimps for Free (2007), Fame, Fortune and Fornication (2009), Candy Coated Fury (2012), and Life Sucks…Let’s Dance (2018).
