Ranjit Singh Bawa (March 14, 1989) is an Indian actor and singer. He was born in Gurdaspur, Punjab. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Guru Nanak College in Batala, Bawa earned his master's degree from Khalsa College in Amritsar. Guru Nanak Dev University is where Bawa received his master's degree in music. He is most commonly linked with films and music that are performed in the Punjabi language. The record-breaking success of his track "Jatt Di Akal" catapulted him to the forefront of the Punjabi music scene.
The album Mitti Da Bawa, which he released in 2015, was recognized as the "Best World Album" at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards that same year. In addition, he was granted the "PTC Best Folk themed Song Award" in 2013 for the song that he composed, titled "Jatt Di Akal." Toofan Singh is a semi-biographical film about the Punjabi activist Shaheed Bhai Jugraj Singh Toofan from the 1980s. It is the film in which he debuted as an actor, portraying the titular role.
