After building up great hopes, this San Diego duo delivers on the promise of their debut album. This CD is a celebration of fantastic punk riffs and unexpectedly memorable melodies. A mission statement for an album that never slows down, the song features Crow's trademark vocal stylings over a driving guitar riff and irresistible energy. Songs like "Broken Eyes" and "Rose Waterfall" refine and expand on this concept, which sees skewed rhythms and fuzzy chime guitars coming together. There are echoes of their previous work on PLOSIVS, but the album stands on its own, and one of its greatest strengths is showcasing the unique talents of its composers.
Crow's melodic sensibilities help soften Hot Snakes' ear-splitting ferocity and tenacity on "See You Suffer" and "Thrown Clear" and on "Never Likely," a guitar line that is Rob Crow's surges towards a powerful jam that will knock you on your rear. The songwriting is bolstered greatly by the rhythm section (consisting of bassist Jordan Clark and session drummer Atom Willard).
