Patrick Sweany Information
Patrick Sweany (April 26, 1974) is an American blues-rock musician from Massillon, Ohio. He first gained prominence during the late 1990s as a blues guitarist and acoustic guitarist when he performed at many Blues Festivals around the United States. In 1999, Sweany released his debut CD entitled Wanna Tell You. The CD received positive reviews from notable musicians such as Jimmy Thackery and Roy Book Binder. Sweany also formed an electric trio in 2001 called The Patrick Sweany Band.
Sweany signed a record deal with Nine Mile Records in 2006 to release C’Mon C’Mere. Jimbo Mathus and Dan Auerback co-produced the CD. He came up with another full-length CD entitled, Every Hour Is A Dollar Gone in June 2007. To support this release, Sweany toured throughout the United States. He moved to East Nashville in 2009.
Sweany released That Old Southern Drag in February 2011. The album’s initial tracks were engineered by Scott McEwan, the bassist for The Tarbox Ramblers. In another addition, overdubs and tracking were done at Joe V. McMahan’s home studios. He also got credit as a producer. The album did well in Americana circles.
Dean Guitars endorsed Sweany until 2011. He signed with Fender Guitars in 2012. Other albums released by Sweany include Merlefest - Live CD, henryfordbedroom CD (2003), Sleeping Bag EP CD (2005), Every Hour Is A Dollar Gone LP (2012), Close To The Floor CD & LP (2013), Daytime Turned To Nighttime CD (2015), and Ancient Noise CD (2018).
