Paloma Cecilia San Basilio Martínez (November 22, 1950) is a Spanish vocalist. She also received the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant contributions to Latin music. Over her career, she has sold more than 16 million records with melodic tunes and pop-style compositions. She often starred in several musicals, including Madrid's Spanish-language Andrew Lloyd Webber Evita debut production.
She also debuted the musical My Fair Lady in numerous Spanish towns in June 2012; the show closed in Valencia on November 4. She said her last year on tour on Twitter and Facebook was on November 22. She did a concert in the Teatro Real in Madrid on January 6, 2014, where only a few vocalists sang, although great operas and classical music abound. She sang songs from musicals such as Mary Poppins, Cats, or Evita and concluded with "Los Nardos" by Las Leandras, which became popular.
After forty years, Paloma San Basilio declared her retirement from the music business. For this reason, she began a farewell tour in 2013 and decided to convey her thanks for her creative career by commencing in Latin America. She competed in the 2014 Viña del Mar International Song Festival (Chile), taking home the Silver and Gold Seagull prizes and the Silver and Gold Torch.
