Overcoats Information
Overcoats is an American electronic-pop duo based in New York. The current lineup of the duo consists of JJ Mitchell and Hana Elion. Overcoats started making music as a minimalistic electronic pop. Their initial musical influence was Swedish 90’s pop. An independent music blog called, Seven Days described Overcoats as making soulful, folk-Tronic tunes. The duo released its self-titled EP in 2015.
On April 21, 2017, the debut album for the Overcoats entitled YOUNG was released under Arts & Crafts Productions. The album received so many positive reviews. According to NPR, “YOUNG” was one of the best albums of 2017. Elion and Mitchell met each other for the first time and found their connection in diverse love of music.
Overcoats released a single entitled, The Fool, on September 4, 2019. For the promotion video of this single, the duo shaved their heads. Other albums released by the duo include The Fight (2020), Used to be Scared of the Dark (EP) (2021), and The Fight (Remixed/Extended) (2021).
Some notable singles of Overcoats include “Nighttime Hunger,” “Smaller Than My Mother,” “Leave the Light On,” “Fire & Fury,” “Apathetic Boys,” “Father,” “Leave If You Wanna,” “The Fog,” “Hold Me Close,” “Cherry Wine,” “Walk On,” and “I Don’t Believe in Us.”
