Otoboke Beaver Information
Otoboke Beaver is a Japanese punk rock band. The current lineup consists of Kahokiss (backing vocals and drums), Hiro-chan (backing vocals and bass), Yoyoyoshie (backing vocals and guitar), and Accorinrin (occasional rhythm guitar and vocals). The band takes its name from a love hotel in Osaka close to one of the members' high schools. It all began in 2009 when its members were all involved with the rock band scene at Kyoto's Ritsumeikan University. There was Accorinrin on vocals, Yoyoyoshie on guitar, Pop on percussion, and Nishikawachi on bass.
Released in June 2011, Otoboke Beaver's demo CD featured three tracks, one of which was a live rendition of "Chuchu Song," which would subsequently be re-recorded and delivered to those who helped fund the band's first journey to the United States. The band's debut live CD was published in 2012 on Egypt Records. In 2013, Jet Set Records published a limited-edition single, including a newly recorded version of "Otobokebeaver Daijikenbo" and two live tracks. The band's mini-album Love Me Sign came out in March of that year.
The band's 2017 tour will take them to the 100 Club in London and SXSW in the United States, among other stops. Fan contributions through Campfire and Kickstarter helped support their journey to SXSW. They played two sets at Coachella 2018, and three shows in the UK as headliners alongside label mates Say Sue Me and Leggy, logging almost 24,000 miles (39,000 km) in a single week.
