OTEP Information
Otep is a Los Angeles, California-based heavy metal band that formed in 2000. The current lineup of the group consists of Lamar Little (drums), Andrew Barnes (bass), Ari Mihalopoulos (guitar), and Otep Shamaya (vocals). The band has released two EPs, eight studio albums, and one live album. They have been signed to Napalm Records since December 2013, after leaving their former company Victory Records.
On June 18, 2002, Otep released their album, Sevas Tra, with Terry Date, and went to play numerous shows at Ozzfest, where they were regarded as one of the top acts. With their ninth performance, they made their debut appearance at Ozzfest in 2001. The debut album also reached number 145 on the Billboard 200 chart and 86 on the UK Albums Chart.
House of Secrets, Otep’s second album, was released on July 27, 2004, produced by Greg Wells. The album charted at number 93 on the Billboard 200 and number 102 in France. After three years of touring, they signed with Koch Records and released their third album, The Ascension, on March 20, 2007. Starting in the spring of 2007, they backed it up with constant touring with Static-X.
Other studio albums released by Otep include Smash the Control Machine (August 18, 2009), Atavist (April 26, 2011), Hydra (January 22, 2013), Generation Doom (April 15, 2016) and Kult 45 (July 27, 2018). Some notable singles of the group are “Perfectly Flawed,” “Rise, Rebel, Resist,” “Not to Touch the Earth,” “To the Gallows,” “In Cold Blood,” and “Shelter in Place.”
