Daniel Pitout (January 6, 1988) is a South African country musician. He is professionally known as Orville Peck born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Orville Peck is an alias; he is presumed to be between 20 and 40. Peck collaborated with Sub Pop to release his self-produced first album, Pony, in 2019. Live performances of his songs "Dead of Night" and "Take You Back" aired on Q on CBC Radio One in June of that year.
The country music icons of the 1970s, including Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Gram Parsons, Bobbie Gentry, Reba McEntire, and Dolly Parton, are huge inspirations for Peck. Peck has cited artists such as Roy Orbison, Oasis, Whitney Houston, Lana Del Rey, and the film filmmakers David Lynch and John Waters as influences outside of country music.
Peck appeared on Full Coverage, Vol. 1, an EP by American drag queen and singer Trixie Mattel, released in April 2021. Duet cover of "Jackson" by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash featuring him. Peck joined regular judges RuPaul Charles, Michelle Visage, and Ross Mathews for an episode of MTV's RuPaul's Drag Race. Peck served as a judge and coach on My Kind of Country in 2023.
