Orleans - Band Information
Orleans is a pop-rock band that was founded in 1972 and originated from Woodstock, New York. The band's current lineup consists of John Hall (founding member)– guitar, vocals; Lance Hoppen – bass, vocals; Dennis "Fly" Amero – guitar, vocals; Lane Hoppen – keyboards, vocals; and Brady Spencer – drums, percussion, vocals. Some of the former members are Larry Hoppen, Wells Kelly, Jerry Marotta, and Bob Leinbach. The group's name evolved from the music it was playing at the time of their formation and was inspired by Louisiana artists: Allen Toussaint and the Neville Brothers.
During its initial years, Orleans found its core audience touring the college and club circuits scattered across the Northeastern United States. The band released its eponymous debut album in the fall of 1973. Orleans II was the second record by the group recorded at Bearsville Studios and was originally released in Europe in 1974. Some of the hit singles by the band are "Dance With Me," "Let There Be Music," "Still the One," "Reach," "Love Takes Time," and "Don't Throw Away Our Love."
Orleans has released many notable studio albums, including Let There Be Music 1975, Waking and Dreaming 1976, Forever 1979, Orleans 1980, One of a Kind 1982, Grown-Up Children 1986, and Analog Men 1994. Live (1991), Live Volume 2 (1993), and Still the One, Live (2002) are some of the live albums by the group. Orleans even released a few compilations such as The ABC Collection (1976), Before the Dance (1978), and Love Takes Time (1986).
