Norah Jones (March 30, 1979) is a singer, songwriter, and pianist named Geethali Norah Jones Shankar. More than 50 million albums have been sold globally since 2023, and she has received several honors for her music. According to Billboard, she was the best jazz performer of the 2000s. She was listed sixty-first on Billboard magazine's artists of the 2000s decade chart and has received nine Grammy Awards.
Come Away with Me, Jones's 2002 solo debut, featured an eclectic blend of jazz, country, blues, folk, and pop. It sold more than 27 million copies and was certified diamond. With five Grammys to her name, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist, Jones became the first Indian-American woman of South Asian heritage to do so.
When US jazz artist Kandace Springs released her 2020 cover album The Women Who Raised Me, the "Angel Eyes" track included Jones and Springs' duet. "Norah Jones Is Playing Along" was Jones's podcast that debuted in September 2022. It included unscripted and improvisational music performed by Jones and a rotating roster of guest musicians, such as Anoushka Shankar, Dave Grohl, Marc Rebillet, and more.
One of the tracks on rapper Logic's eighth studio album, College Park, featuring Jones, was "Paradise II" in 2023. Jones recorded a rendition of the traditional Christmas tune "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" with the Icelandic jazz artist Laufey in 2023, and they also released an original song called "Better Than Snow."
