Nick Colionne is famous for his smooth guitar chops and dynamic stage persona. From the beginning of his career in the 1990s, Colionne established himself as an in-demand player all across Chicago. After his high school, being an education-loving individual, Colionne graduated from Chicago's Malcolm X College. He became an elementary school teacher and worked for over 15 years as a music teacher and counselor at St. Laurence Elementary School in Elgin, Illinois.
He struggled a lot to build upon the soulful jazz style of idols like George Benson, Wes Montgomery, and Grover Washington, Jr. He loves to teach as much as he loves music. Colionne is declared as the only artist to score five consecutive number-one singles on Billboard from a single album in the history of the smooth jazz format.
Nick Colionne is also famous for coming up with thought-provoking album titles. He started playing guitar when he was only nine. By the age of 15, he turned into a professional touring artist. Much of his life was spent touring with such legendary acts as The Staple Singers, the Impressions, and similar ones.
Some of his smooth golden jazz and funk-influenced efforts include 1996's Arrival, 1999's The Seduction, 2003's Just Come on In, 2006's Keepin' It Cool, 2008's No Limits, 2014’s Influence, and many others. "Got to Keep Moving," was a hit single by Colionne that reached the top of airplay charts. The Journey was his third album released in April 2016, which was followed by Just Being Me in 2018.
Nick Colionne was awarded a Wayman Tisdale Humanitarian Award in 2010.
