Music Midtown Festival Information
After a six-year break, Atlanta, Georgia's massive Music Midtown festival returned in 2011. The festival originally ran from 1994 to 2005. From 2011 until 2019, the festival took place annually; however, the 2020 event has been canceled owing to the pandemic. In 2021, the festival made a brief comeback before being canceled the following year. It was reported that Music Midtown would return in May of 2023. The festival takes place every year during the last weekend of September.
In its heyday, the festival regularly attracted over 300,000 people. The festival expanded from its original two days and three stages to its current three days and six main stages. The festival's organizers put it on hold in 2006 because of falling attendance and growing costs following the 2005 event.
The festival returned for a single day in 2011 and then expanded to two days the following year. The festival was scheduled in a public park in Georgia, but gun control laws in the state forced organizers to call off the event on August 1st, 2022. The festival returns in 2023, and organizers stated that it would span three days, from September 15-17.
