Movement Music Festival Information
Movement From 2006 to now, Detroit has hosted the Electronic Music Festival every Memorial Day weekend, a music festival showcasing electronic dance music. Memorial Day weekend at Hart Plaza has been the site of several electronic music festivals, such as Fuse-In (2005), Movement (2003–2004), and Detroit Electronic Music Festival (2000–2002). Each of the four festival names indicates a unique producer, brand, or direction.
The original DEMF organizers made a significant announcement in late 2013: the festival would be making a comeback to Campus Martius Park on Independence Day weekend, 2014, with free admission. Additionally, Ford Field was chosen to host the Federation of Electronic Music Technology (FEMT), a conference and music showcase that required paid admission.
Ultimately, 2015 was chosen as the new date for these activities. The Movement Electronic Music Festival set to take place in Hart Plaza over Memorial Day weekend, is unrelated to these happenings. The Electronic Music Awards has Movement up for Festival of the Year in 2017. From May 27th to the 29th, 2024, Hart Plaza hosted Movement again.
