Monica Martin Information
Monica Martin attended the University of Alberta in Canada, receiving a Bachelor of Music Performance degree in the violin in 2002. As a second practical, she took voice lessons, gave two recitals at Convocation Hall, and listened to violin master classes taught by Andrew Dawes and Pinkas Zuckerman.
Martin worked in the education and entertainment industries in Edmonton, Canada, before relocating to Townsville in 2008. Martin played the violin and taught at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music. Throughout the summer workshops, she mentored students at a higher skill level and taught master classes. She also led group violin lessons after school through the Edmonton Public School Board.
Opera NUOVA is a Canadian rigorous opera training school that celebrates operatic vocalists and chamber musicians; it was there that Martin first performed with a professional orchestra. Soon after, Martin joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra casually, where she played various symphonic music with the Alberta Ballet, Edmonton Opera, and the Richard Eaton Singers.
