Joyce Melissa “Meli’sa” Morgan (December 6, 1964) is an American singer and songwriter from Queens, New York. Her music is classified as R&B, soul, and pop. Morgan is well-known for her string of urban contemporary hits. It all started in the mid–1980s and continued through the mid–1990s. Some of Morgan’s most notable songs included are her cover version of Prince’s “Do Me, Baby” (1985), “Still in Love With You” (1992), and “Do You Still Love Me” (1986).
Morgan got her official kick-start in the music industry while she was singing with a church gospel choir named the Starlets of Corona. Chaka Khan is stated to be a major influence for Morgan. She has worked with a few record labels during her career, Capitol, Pendulum, and Orpheus. Morgan has shared the stage with some of the well-known acts, including Shades of Love, Melba Moore, High Fashion, Janet Jackson, Kashif, Melissa Morgan, Freddie Jackson, and Miki Howard.
Do Me Baby was the first studio album by Morgan released in 1986. It was followed by Good Love 1987, The Lady in Me 1990, Still in Love with You 1992, I Remember 2005, and finally, Love Demands 2018. One of her compilation albums is Do You Still Love Me?: The Best of Meli’sa Morgan. It was released on June 18, 1996. Her biggest hit singles of all time are “Believe In Yourself” (with Soul Switch), “Can You Give Me What I Want,” and “Back Together Again” (with Freddie Jackson).
