Max Bemis Information
Maxim Adam Bemis (April 6, 1984) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born in New York City, New York. After finishing elementary school, Bemis enrolled at the Los Angeles-based private secondary school Windward School. He encountered his future bandmate, Coby Linder, at Camp Ramah in Ojai, California. Say Anything was founded in 2000 by Bemis, Linder, and their high school friends from Windward and Beverly Hills. Despite being labeled a "high school band," this group has put out not one but two full-length albums and an extended play.
Bemis is the band's main lyricist, guitarist, and lead singer. Say Anything was formed around him. He is the sole survivor since the rest of the initial band members have left. Junior Varsity was issued by Say Anything in 2000. Baseball, the band's first studio album, was published in 2001. Bemis kept the band going even though she only spent a semester at Sarah Lawrence College, playing almost all of the instruments on Menorah/Majora and the band's dorm room recordings.
In 2013, Bemis revealed his first comic series, Polarity, a four-issue limited series published by Boom! Studios. The graphic novel chronicles the life of Tim Woods, a man with bipolar disorder, and the trade paperback included an acoustic four-song EP written and recorded especially for the book.
