Matthew Perryman Jones (1973) is an American singer and songwriter. Jones's musical career kicked off in 1997 when he gave his first concerts at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Georgia. After relocating to Nashville to pursue music full-time, Jones released his debut solo album, "Nowhere Else but Here," in 2000. The album Throwing Punches in the Dark came out in 2006. The album Neilson Hubbard produced included more of a pop-rock sound than his traditional folk/Americana style.
In 2007, Jones joined Stoll Vaughan, Jim James, and Patty Griffin on stage at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama, to celebrate ten years of the syndicated radio program Reg's Coffee House. Jones debuted "Save You" at this event, which gained widespread attention after being included in a Kyle XY episode.
Jones and Neilson Hubbard worked together in 2008 to create the album Swallow the Sea. The album featuring the single "Save You," released on August 19, 2008, gained traction on television and saw increasing placements in North American prime-time television through 2012. Jones dropped not one but two EPs in 2010: the widely available The Distance in Between and the NoiseTrade-only Crash, Boom, Bang. The tracks on Crash, Boom, Bang were either deemed unfinished at the time or needed to cut inclusion on Swallow the Sea.
