Matt Andersen Information
Matt Andersen is a Canadian blues singer-songwriter and guitarist from Perth-Andover, New Brunswick. Andersen started his musical career by headlining significant clubs, festivals, and theaters all across Europe, Australia, and North America. He has shared the stage or toured with numerous acts, including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Randy Bachman, Little Feat, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Gregg Allman, Little Feat, April Wine, America, Serena Ryder, Loverboy, Jonny Lang, and Beth Hart.
In 2009, Andersen played in over 200 live performances, which include his fourth UK tour. He also performed at many of Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe shows across Canada, where he starred in 2009 and continued to 2011. Currently, Andersen is managed by Sonic Entertainment Group. His most notable discographies include One Size Never Fits (2004, self-issued), Solo at Sessions (2005, self-released), Live at Liberty House (2006, self-released), Second Time Around (2007), Something In Between (2008), Piggyback (with Mike Stevens) (2009), Live at the Phoenix Theatre (2009), Coal Mining Blues (2011), and Weightless (2014).
A few of his notable singles are "I Don't Wanna Give In," "The Bed I Made," "Quarter on the Ground (A Song for Uncle Joe)," "Going Down," "Who Are You Listening To?," "What Will You Leave," "Canadian Winter Blues," and "I Work Hard For The Luxury."
Anderson won two 2009 East Coast Music Association (ECMA) Awards. He also won the prize for a duo/individual at the Memphis International Blues Challenge that took place on January 25, 2010, making him the first Canadian to win from the 26-year run of the event. Anderson was nominated for four 2011 East Coast Music Association (ECMA) Awards, and he won an ECMA award again in 2011. Andersen has also received a Juno Award nomination.
