Mary Bridget Davies Information
Mary Bridget Davies (August 30, 1978) is an American actress and singer. She is a performer with her band, The Mary Bridget Davies Group, and a Janis Joplin interpretation. Her portrayal as Janis in A Night with Janis Joplin earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical. In 2012, her band The Mary Bridget Davies Group released Wanna Feel Somethin, an album of original music.
Davies was born and raised in Cleveland, graduating from Fairview High School in 1996. She began her career as a dancer, traveling with Tina Landon’s dance shows as a youngster, and subsequently moved on to singing and acting. Davies was a vocalist in the Jazz Band and a member of the Honor Choir in high school. He also participated in shows with the school theatre group, the Stagecrafters.
Around 2002, Davies began singing at blues jams in Cleveland after graduating from college. She earned the leading part in a touring production of Love, Janis in 2005 after auditioning. Davies took up the leading role in the touring production of A Night with Janis Joplin in 2012 and stayed with the show when it transferred to Off-Broadway and then Broadway in 2013, closing on February 9, 2014.
