Martin Levac Information
The most well-known aspect of Martin Levac's career as a vocalist, drummer, keyboardist, lyricist, and composer is his onstage imitation of British singer/drummer Phil Collins. Levac was given a toy drum kit when he was eight years old. He was born on November 10th, 1971, in Longueuil, a southern suburb of Montreal, Quebec. With a genuine drum kit and a bunch of classmates, he founded his first band, "Chester-Phil," when he was 13.
It wouldn't be the final group! He soon added the roles of pianist and singer to those of percussionist. Levac has always broadened his musical horizons, studying a variety of other musical genres and working with notable musicians like Daryl Stuermer, Ronnie Caryl, and Amy Keys, among others. Levac's love of Genesis and Phil Collins' music began in his adolescent years when he switched from right-handed to left-handed drumming to mimic Phil's subtlety more accurately.
His quest to master his mimicry started at that point. With the Genesis tribute band The Musical Box, Levac performed his first authentic Phil impersonation. In the Selling England By The Pound event, he performed the song More Fool Me while playing the drums and singing harmoniously, just like Phil did in Genesis.
