Manuel Turizo Zapata (April 12, 2000) is a Colombian singer. He was born in Monteria, Cordoba. Turizo gave up learning to play his brother's guitar and focused instead on honing his singing voice. He had planned to become a veterinarian, but he changed his mind after taking voice lessons from a Cuban instructor. Turizo used to hone his singing voice by singing along to his brother's guitar, ukulele, and other favorite tunes when they were kids. Later, while his brother was at Medelln for graduate school, he began regularly penning songs.
Manuel Turizo's father and older brother, Julián Turizo, are accomplished musicians. Turizo has dabbled in trap, R&B, and vallenato in addition to reggaeton. In terms of vocal range, he is considered a baritone and has been praised for his "sultry and deep" tones by Billboard. Turizo has been heavily influenced by artists such as Pablo Alborán and Bruno Mars.
When Turizo and Ozuna released their duet "Vaina Loca" in September 2018, it became his first song to hit the top of the chart on the Billboard Hot 100. The single spent two weeks on the chart, reaching as high as no. 94. He recorded a duet with Mau y Ricky called "Desconocidos" in October 2018. His song "Sola" topped the Billboard Latin Airplay chart, becoming his first song to do so. His first album, ADN, was released on August 23, 2019. It includes guest appearances from artists including Zion & Lennox, Noriel, Ozuna, Darell, Nicky Jam, Sech, and Anuel AA.
