Juan Luis Londono Arias (January 28, 1994) is a Colombian singer and rapper. He is professionally known by his stage name, Maluma. He was born in Medellin, Antioquia. After writing the song "No Quiero" with a buddy when he was fifteen, his uncle Juan Parra gave him a recording session as a birthday present the following year. This was his first big break in the music industry. After he impressed them, he was requested to pick a moniker that would be memorable to urban music fans and acceptable to the genre's creators.
"Maluma has attitude, Maluma has style," Vogue gushed about the 2019 "Menswear Icon in the Making" Maluma. His songs, charisma, and general approach are colorful and exuberant, as are his clothes. He worked with Balmain on a capsule collection inspired by Miami in 2021. In March of 2022, he debuted a Reunited Clothing and Macy's collection under the name Royalty by Maluma.
For fear of being accused of whitewashing Qatari human rights abuses, Maluma abruptly ended a live TV interview broadcast on Israeli public television during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Maluma has invested in several startups with venture money, including the music streaming platform TREBEL and the Colombian real estate technology firm La Haus.
