Lydia Lunch (June 2, 1959) was born Lydia Anne Koch. She is a well-known American singer, writer, actress, poet, and self-empowerment speaker. Lunch is from Rochester, New York. She is of Italian and German descent. At the age of 16, she moved to New York City and eventually made her place into a communal household of musicians and artists. The New York City no-wave scene mainly spawned Lunch's career as a guitarist and singer in the Teenage Jesus and the Jerks.
Lydia Lunch started her solo career with collaborations with some well-known musicians, including Exene Cervenka, Kim Gordon, J. G. Thirlwell, Thurston Moore, Steven Severin, Robert Quine, Bob Bert, Nick Cave, Marc Almond, Michael Gira, the Birthday Party, Sonic Youth, Oxbow, Die Haut, and the list goes on. Widowspeak Productions was Lunch's recording and publishing company that she founded in the mid-1980s. In this company, she released her musical material, such as Collision Course & Trust The Witch, in 2013, along with Retrovirus in the same year.
Smoke in the Shadows is a popular studio album by Lunch in November 2004. The album was released via Atavistic Records and Breakin Beats. According to the Boston Phoenix, Lunch is declared as one of the ten most influential performers of the 1990s. "Death Valley '69" is a major collaboration with Sonic Youth that was named one of "The 50 Most Evil Songs Ever" by Kerrang!
Lunch also worked in two hit films in Black Box. Some of her notable compilation albums are Widowspeak (1998), Hysterie (1986), Deviations on a Theme (2006), and a few more. Queen of Siam (1980), 13.13 (1981), Honeymoon in Red (1987), Unearthly Delights (1992), Twisted (1992), and Matrikamantra (1997) are some other hit releases.
