Wasalu Muhammad Jaco (February 16, 1982), known as Lupe Fiasco, is an American rapper and record producer. 2006 saw him become well-known as his first album, Food & Liquor, became successful. Under his true name, he also fronts the rock band Japanese Cartoon. Fiasco was the main executive officer of 1st and 15th Entertainment as an entrepreneur.
Fiasco debuted his album Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor on the label in September 2006; it earned three Grammy nominations. In December 2007, he released his second album, The Cool, from Lupe Fiasco. His first Top 40 success on the Billboard Hot 100 came from the lead track "Superstar." Released on June 24, 2022, Drill Music in Zion by Fiasco via 1st & 15th Too and Thirty Tigers Two singles—"Autoboto" and "Drill Music in Zion"— preceded it.
With Chicago visual artist SentRock, Fiasco debuted the song "SentRock" on April 28, 2023. Fiasco wrote and produced the music, and SentRock created artwork referencing the song's words. Released on June 28, 2024, by 1st & 15th Too and Thirty Tigers, Fiasco featured Samurai. Two singles, "Samurai" and "Cake," preceded it. Concerning the life and legacy of neo-soul artist Amy Winehouse, Samurai is a concept album.
