Ludo Information
Ludo is an American band playing alternative rock, pop-rock, and power pop genres of songs. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Ludo is made up of Andrew Volpe (vocal, guitar), Tim Ferrel (lead guitarist, back up vocalist), Tim Convy (back up vocalist), and Matt Palermo (drummer, back up vocalist).
The origins of the band can be traced back to the high school years of Andrew Volpe, who began writing songs back then. Ludo has songs that would later become the first hit songs after the formation of the band. For instance, the hit song Hum Along was written by Volpe.
It was during his sophomore year at Washington University in St. Louis that Volpe teamed up with Dave Heltibrand and Tim Ferrel to form the Ludo band. They picked the name from a character in the film Labyrinth.
Their first debut album, self-titled, was released in August 2003 under their label, the Redbird Records. In the next couple of years, Ludo went out on tour with other bands. In the process, they got moderate indie success. They released an EP Broken Bride in 2005.
From their tours, Ludo established the reputation of a vivacious band, and they began to host themed concerts to maintain that image. They went on to release the album You’re Awful, I Love You in 2008, and followed it up with Prepare the Preparations in 2010.
